In a deck valve sequence, the goal is to safely manage and then completely isolate the deck piping after transfer operations. You move through safety and control devices first—ensuring backflow prevention with a non-return valve, venting vapors via the vent line, and, if equipped, maintaining a water seal to protect the deck area. The final step is closing the deck isolation valve, which actually isolates the entire deck piping from the cargo system. This final valve ensures there’s no path for leaks once hoses are disconnected or maintenance is needed, providing the secure shutoff needed for safe operations.
